History

Utsalady Heights Owners Association is a private community nestled in the forest above Utsalady Bay. Our community consists of 76 single-family homes and a group of non-voting bay members (water only.) Our residents enjoy beautiful views, excellent roads, abundant wildlife, and free, delicious water (up to 25,000 gallons.)

In 1853, Lawrence Grennan and Marshall Campbell started a spar camp and made plans for Camano’s first lumber mill at the fine deep harbor called Utsalady. Some of our streets were named after these men, although Cambell was misspelled. The Puget Mill Company retained ownership of the land until the 1960s, and it remained undeveloped until the summer of 1990 when lots 1-40 went on the market, and in one weekend every lot had multiple offers. All were sold by Monday. Our homes continue to maintain their value.

Below is an aerial photo taken in the late 1970s when Utsalady Heights was still a forest.
